Modeling Cellular Metabolism

Abstract:
I will present an overview of different modeling approaches to cellular metabolism. This will be an overview based on my limited understanding, and therefore necessarily biased. The models will range from Flux balance analysis, Savageau phenotype modeling, high level growth models to kinetic models of a chemostat.
At the end I will review a recent joint work with Hammarlund, Carlson and Harcombe (Nature Communications 12:619 (2021)) on coexistence of a 3-species consortium where direct competition between two species is stabilized by a shared mutualist.
