Abstract:

An undergraduate STEM organization implemented a mentoring program and assessed its impact through survey data. The project utilized mixed methods, including thematic and quantitative likert analysis, to assess trends in participants’ perceived values of mentoring throughout the duration of the program. The research team developed and applied a list of academic, career, and personal qualitative thematic terms to categorize the survey responses. The project generated insight on undergraduate STEM students’ needs and determined the perceived value and growth of mentee-mentor dynamics. The results have implications for new or ongoing STEM mentorship programs in higher education.
