Abstract: The importance of learning computational thinking practices through mathematics in K-12 settings is gaining momentum in the United States and worldwide. In this study, I propose to use the qualitative research method to investigate the single case of preservice teachers constructing computational thinking practices through mathematical modeling activities. Findings from this study will include what I learn about how preservice teachers interact with peers and computational tools, the challenges they face and how they overcome the challenges, and the use of mathematical practices when they work on the mathematical modeling activities.
