Morse Theory and Topological Data Analysis

Abstract: In the twenties of the previous century, Marston Morse used critical points of real-valued functions to develop an important approach to topology now called Morse theory. I will introduce Morse theory and a modern computational descendant of it called topological data analysis and explore some of the connections between the two.
