Abstract:
The Mordell-Weil theorem states that the group of rational points of an elliptic curve is finitely generated. Work of Mazur and others has led to determining complete lists of possible torsion subgroups over different number fields. If G is one of these torsion subgroups, I will discuss results in counting the number of elliptic curves of bounded naive height whose torsion subgroup is isomorphic to G.
